| The Metroplex Mission with Billy Graham and Friends was held at the Texas Stadium October 17 - 20, 2002. The last time Billy Graham was in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area was in 1971! The event broke attendance records for Texas stadium 2 nights running! Nearly 11,100 made commitments to Christ over the 4 days. www.metroplexmission.org
This was the response on Oct. 17th. It was raining so hard on the 18th, that I forgot my camera in the car that evening. There was still quite a good response on the 18th, people standing in the rain!
The traffic was so miserable on Oct. 19th, I barely made into the overflow parking before they closed it. By the time I made it to the gates, they were long closed because the stadium was at capacity. The above photo is of the overflow area in the parking lot next to the stadium (in the background). The overflow area had its own jumbo TV, stage and loudspeaker stacks.
They opened the gates at the end and I was able to see the response on the stadium floor. There was also a large crowd in front of the stage in the overflow area.
Of course, as part of the Co-laborer team doing computer research, here's where we spent the long hours into the night after each evening's event.
As extra early a start we had going to the stadium on the 20th, traffic was still quite dreadful. Although we made it into the stadium before they closed the doors, we ended up enduring packed walkways to find seats in the 'nosebleed' section. We praise the Lord for allowing us to be a part of this - and for seeing the many, many people the Lord touched in life changing ways!
